Initiation: Psychology and Symbolism.
In this entertaining workshop, Dr. Shoemaker will discuss the initiation rituals from Minerval through III°, with a special focus on Jungian and Qabalistic psychology, the chakras, and the various psychological responses and "life ordeals" in those taking the degrees. There will be ample opportunity for discussion of attendees' experiences with the degrees, and for questions.

Dr. David Shoemaker is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Sacramento, California, and has been a member of OTO since 1993. David was Master of Mysterium Coniunctionis Camp in Terre Haute, Indiana (1995-1997), and Master of 418 Lodge in Sacramento (2004-2007), succeeding Soror Meral, his friend and teacher. He now serves as the M.W.S. of Alpha Chapter, and has a seat on the Grand Tribunal.
David is the founding President of the OTO Psychology Guild, and a frequent speaker at NOTOCON. He is also a Subject Matter Expert on the USGL Education Committee. His areas of interest include Qabalistic Psychology, ritual design, Raja Yoga, and systems of initiation (including Masonry, Golden Dawn-style rites, and the A.’.A.’.). As an ordained Priest of EGC, David led the team that developed the Pastoral Counseling Workshops, and he enjoys bringing the Workshops to members around the U.S.
